Faculty Of Civil Engineering New Building

Location:

Iran,Tehran

Date:

2019
Faculty of civil engineering new building is located in the center of Tehran, and 2 district municipality. Its use is intended to be Educational project. This project includes 8 zones: Zone a public spaces, zone b academic spaces, zone c study rooms, zone d library, zone e administrative spaces, zone f building operations, zone g students services and zoneh parking.
Following the orientation pattern from other Sharif University buildings: East-West oriented- Bar-type insertion of new building blocks (C, D) with South and North visual fronts .
The holistic approach of the design considers the integrity of the old and new buildings functionally and formally. Renovation is not about the recreation of an image but about retaining the fabric. Our ambition for the renovation of the faculty of civil engineering is to insure the permanence of the historic fabric as a way of resisting the creation of a fictitious original image. Buildings become historical only when they incorporate the narrative of their permanence. The building footprint has considered the various approach sequences to the project site from the campus.
The new building includes an entry square in the West- East Axis, that connects with a transparent space (Hall) within the complex were students and visitors can enjoy as a place for recreation and circulation. The building provides transition spaces among scale, massing and character of the different campus historical buildings, creating a new experience of the site.
Concepts are proposed producing sequences among exterior and interior spaces which support the West-East and the South-North connections. The new building has 5 stories and one Mezzanine in the overground, in the underground it has 3 stories and one Mezzanine. The side facing the Electrical Engineering Faculty respects the height of the Electrical Building Faculty and preserves the street ans treees alignments. The path between the Electrical Building Faculty and the west parking is considered one of the fundamental axes of the project The Shaking table lab and the Concrete Volume are incorporated into the set and magnified as heritage pieces
